How do I register for MAST?

There are two registration times for MAST.  One in early September (for fall/winter season) and one in late March (for spring/summer season).  These are held at the Milford High School Natatorium.  If you are new to MAST, please be prepared to demonstrate your stroke proficiency.  This is not necessarily a tryout, but is used for placement in the correct group.  Necessary forms can be downloaded from our Registration page.

What is the official team suit and competition cap?

TEAM SUIT: ANY BRAND/STYLE BLACK SUIT (1 piece): A black suit is to be worn at all meets.  Typical brand names include Speedo, TYR, and Dolphin.  Swimmers can wear any suit for practice; saving the competition suit for meets.  Many times swimmers will wear more than one suit for “drag”–an excellent way to get more “yardage” out of old, worn suits.  Suits can be found locally at the following locations:

bullet

Kast-A-Way Swimwear: I-275 North to Route 42 exit.  Turn right (north) for 1-2 miles.  Kast-A-Way will be on your right.  Kast-A-Way will usually give a 10% discount toward any black suit; just mention that you’re from MAST.

bullet

Pannel’s Swim Shop: I-275 South to KY I-471 North to the first Ft. Thomas exit. Turn left onto 27 North.  Turn right into the small strip mall: Pannel’s is located in the back corner.  Pannel’s will usually give a 10% discount toward any black suit; just mention that you’re from MAST.

bullet

Dick’s at Eastgate: Call first. Suits may be seasonal.

bullet

Royal Athletics: Located in downtown Milford in the Milford Shopping Center.  Call first; they don’t always have suits available.

Over the past year, we have added a logo to our suits to help identify our swimmers and create more team unity.  After purchasing your competition suit, take your suit to
Jamboree (located in downtown Milford on Lila Avenue - across from Baker's) where they will embroider the logo onto the suit for a small charge.

CAP: THE MAST “M” must be worn for all meets.  This can be purchased at the pool from Mrs. Brown or Mr. Tameris for $3.00.  Any cap is okay for practice.  Girls should always wear a cap; many boys wear them too, especially at meets.  We occasionally will order personalized swim caps at the beginning of the season if there is enough interest.  These are the same MAST "M" cap, but with the swimmers last name under it.  There is a minimum order for these of 40 total caps and 2 per name.

Do we need any additional equipment?

GOGGLES: Any style of goggles is fine (not face masks).  They can be purchased at the same stores where swim suits are sold and also at Target and Meijer.  Since goggles can sometimes be difficult to get used to, swimmers MUST wear them for all practices.  This will insure that the goggles fit appropriately when the swimmer is ready for competition.

KICKBOARD, FLIPPERS, PULLBUOY:   These items are supplied by MAST and/or Milford High School and can be found in the equipment room.  Please do not mistreat these items.

SPIRIT WEAR: This is a collection of clothing, towels, hats, swim bags, and other items that feature the MAST name and logo.  The Spiritwear committee provides a sample line and ordering information.  Beth Jackson (Nick and Nate) is currently the Spiritwear coordinator.

How do I know when  group practices?

We have a BASIC SCHEDULE that we follow weekly throughout the year.  However, Milford High School and the pool are very busy and sometimes we are not able to hold practice on a specific day.  CALENDARS, with specific practice dates, are posted on the website and at the pool.  Weekly emails, which include the specific practice dates for the week, are sent out to all members.

How do I get communications about team activities and how does I get in touch with the coaches?

We use several ways to put information out to all our members on a timely basis:
1.  Email - Emails are sent out weekly during the season and at various times when additional info needs to be sent out immediately.
2.  Website - Information about activities, meets, practices, etc., us posted to www.MilfordSwimming.org

3.  Folders - Each family has a folder in the box at the pool.  Team Information and other items which can not be emailed are put into the folders.  Swimmers should check their folders regularly.>
4.  To get in touch with one of the coaches please use email.  For 12 and under swimmers please email Coach Brown at mastcoach@hotmail.com and for 13 and above swimmers please contact Gary Tameris at mast@spsp.net.   For emergencies please call 513-576-2254.
