Monty Hopkins

MAST Families,

  • TYR Suit fitting – We need six volunteers to staff the TYR/Swimville suit fitting.  Please contact coach Monty Hopkins if you are willing to help with the suit fitting.  It will be during swim practice and scheduled as soon as volunteers are available. If we cannot make arrangements for an on-site fitting, the other option is to go to the Swimville store in Ft. Thomas to get properly fitted.
  • Second notice: Milford High School is raising funds for At Milford High School, we take great honor and pride in the many distinguished accomplishments for our students past and present. One area from our history that we felt was missing was the prestigious accomplishments of our All-American Swimmers/Divers & Water Polo athletes. We hope this project will properly honor these individuals and with the support of our aquatics families, we can get this board funded and up in our pool for the winter & spring seasons! Thanks for your support of Milford Athletics and our students/alumni!  Here is the link to make a tax deductible donation to our athletic boosters earmarked for this project and others for aquatics: https://www.milfordathletics.org/boosters/box-office-7/
  • Swimmer pick-up – As it gets darker, this is a reminder to parents to make sure that you are at the pool at least five minutes early to pick up your swimmer.  For their safety we strongly urge you to talk with them about safety practices and what to do if for some reason their ride is not at the pool after practice. Please remind your swimmer(s) that they should wait in the swim pool area if their ride has not arrived – we strongly advise our swimmers not to wait outside in the dark and soon, cold.
  • Weather - As the weather gets colder, please remind your swimmers to dress properly outside – especially after practice.  Wear a hat, coat or jacket and shoes.
  • Flu Shots are highly recommended - please consider getting a flu shot.  The coaches are not doctors so it is a little out of our area of expertise to make health care recommendations.  As always, personal and family health care decisions should be made by each swimmers parent(s) and primary care physician but, speaking from experience a bad bout of flu can really disrupt weeks or even months of hard training.  Getting the flu might be even more important with the covid virus still around.
  • Schedule this week – week 4, some practices will again get a little longer this week.  As the swimmers get used to being at swim practice, the coaches will be working to add more learning and fitness to practices.  The first three weeks have gone very well and we are looking forward to even better practices this week.
