This update is either a few days early or severla days late, but there is a lot of information in this update so please take a few minutes to review the information.

Olympic Trials

Evan Fentress  has qualified to swim in the 100 Butterfly Olympic Trials semi-final. 

He swims the 100 Fly tonight in heat 1, lane 8

He earned his place in the semi-finals by improving his best time from :53.03 to :52.56

Evan is a former MAST swimmer now training and competing for The Ohio State University.

 

Red 1 & Red 2 Practice Schedule Change - Monday June 24:

Monday, June 24 Red 1 and Red 2 will practice 10:00 – 10:45 am on Monday, June 24. 

No dryland training this coming Monday

Red 3 and Black 1 will have practice as scheduled.

 

Juneteenth Practice Cancellation Wednesday, June 19 –

I apologize to everyone who was inconvenienced by the cancellation of practice on Wednesday, June 19.

This was a national holiday and I did not see that the high school was closed. 

 

Text Messaging:

The last minute practice cancellation is a good example of why we ask everyone to sign up for SMS in your member profile. 

We will only use that SMS feature for “emergency” notifications (like the cancellation of practice on June 19). 

We will not fill your text messages with ordinary communication.

 

Open Water Championships:

We have five swimmers entered in the Open Water Championships at Lake Snowden on Tuesday, June 25. 

 

 

13-14 and 15 & Over Age Groups 

Check-In Begins:      9:00 am   ( Swimmers not checking in will be scratched)

Pre-Race Briefing:    9:30 am - (15 & over) 10:30 am (13-14):   

Competition starts:   10:00 am (15 & over – 4 km) 11:00 am (13-14 – 3 km)

 

SOSL Meet at Woodhaven on Tuesday, June 25: 

Today is the deadline to commit to swim in the Woodhaven SOSL meet next Tuesday. 

I want to encourage everyone to participate in this meet.

Black 2 & Black 3 swimmers should participate in the SOSL meet since we are cancelling Tuesday morning practice.

 

SOSL Meet at Cincinnati Sports Club on Tuesday, July 2: 

Thursday is the deadline to commit to swim in the Sports Club SOSL on Tuesday, July 2

 

Ohio Swimming Regional Championship:

Sign-up deadline is Thursday, June 27. 

All 14 & younger MAST swimmers should compete in this Championship meet. 

This is also the last chance qualifier for the Ohio Swimming Junior Championships.
