Hello MAST Families, Update from the MAST SWIM-A-THON Thank you to everyone who assisted with the event. Special thanks to Monica Nerl and Brenda Fadden for their organization and to Brian Roeper for getting the prize table donations. Those who participated on Friday night did an amazing job. The Black 2 & 3 Groups swam 5,000 for time and the Black 1, Red 1, 2 & 3 swimmers went for distance. The results are listed below. Most of the second group (Red + Black 1) far exceeded expectations. The goal...

For anyone interested in helping as a Lifeguard at the Milford HS pool: If a student lifeguard is willing to "volunteer" guard for MAST practices and not already an MHS aquatic staff, the district policy is that they MUST complete a background check prior to lifeguarding and provide current certifications. This background check may be completed at the MEVSD administrative office and an appointment must be made prior to getting this completed. The cost, I believe, is $60.00, however, students may be reimbursed if they get approval from the treasurer's...

Hello MAST Families, From time to time I am asked this question. "What should I eat before morning practice?" (and often the follow up, "What should I eat after morning practice?") Some people can tolerate food in their stomach during exercise better than others. Either way, efforts should be made to eat before practice in order to get the most from your body. I recommend gradually and deliberately using differente strategies to find what works best. (Let me help get you started: A dozen glazed donuts and a 20 oz....

USA Swimming has releases the qualifying standards (and dates) for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials. The event will take place from June 15-23 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana in a new 9-day format. Only one set of standards has been released, implying that USA Swimming intends to return the meet to its traditional singular event. In order to reduce numbers amid the COVID-19 pandemic, USA Swimming ran the Tokyo 2020 trials over two waves: a slower Wave I meet, with the top swimmers qualifying forward to race...
Hello MAST Families, Cincinnati Marlins May Invitational We have a tremendous meet this weekend. Our swimmers got early season Long Course racing and they were, in many cases, able to achieve substantial time improvements over previous best times. The MAST results are posted in the Events section. If wish to check meet results on Monday (or after) you will need to go into the “archived” section. See one-page meet schedule and entry deadline included after the practice schedule New practice times for Masters Swim Practice 7:30 – 8:45 on Monday,...
May 15, 2022 Hello MAST Families, David Webb – Clippers meet It was a late decision not to send an entry to the Flag City meet because only nine MAST swimmers signed up. Lacking information to the contrary, it is concluded that families are reluctant to travel to swim meets. As a result, we decided to offer the local alternative to attend the David Webb meet hosted by Clippers. Our entry to a Clippers meet this past winter season we not accepted because we were told the meet had already...
May 14, 2022 Hello MAST Families, THIS IS A SPECIAL UPDATE REGARDING SWIM MEETS. PLEASE REVIEW THE MATERIAL AND TAKE ACTION BY SUNDAY NIGHT – MAY 15. Unfortunately, this information is being posted later than planned, assembling and compiling the meet information took longer than anticipated. There are a couple options we would like to make available to our members. Our original plan was to attend the RAYS meet (june 17-19), but that meet was cancelled so we looked for a suitable alternative team meet. As an alternative we selected...
